The single-family house ZAN is designed as a replacement building, on the site of the original structure. Surrounded by the picturesque green landscape of the Ljubljana suburbs and in the company of an ancient oak tree, it embraces the idea of framing views of the nearby nature and the Kamnik-Savinja Alps in the distance. The house makes the most of the natural features of the plot and connects to it through the access with the living spaces of the house, as well as with its appurtenances of terrace, carport and garden.

The floor plan is designed with the thought of the generational life scenarios of its users. Initially for a young family, leaving an additional open space in the upper floor of the building dedicated to a studio for creation and socializing, separate from the ground floor central space. Later, as the family grows, this studio space is closed off, gaining an additional room.

In its final form, the house also has the possibility to be divided into two separate and independent residential units: one on the ground floor and the other, with added stairs on the eastern facade, on the upper floor of the house.

In this way, the house ensures optimal spatial utilization and continuous maintenance. Natural materials such as wood and stone have been used to the greatest extend possible in the design. The terrace and the courtyard are paved with polished concrete.
