The apartment is situated in the old part of the city centre in a 19th century building under the Ljubljana Castle. The client bought it in a completely ruined condition, with ceilings supported by beams. It was a definitely a challenge to design a brand new apartment from such a devastated starting position.
The floor plan was organized in a way that created an ‘island’ unit in the middle and enabled circular movement through the apartment. The loveliest part of the flat is the east side with the views to the green patio through semi-circular windows benefiting from wonderful morning light. Here is the kitchen with the dining area, its orientation allowing for great views that can be enjoyed during the meals. The floor is wooden – parquet – slightly whitened oak, with the exception of the bathroom and toilet, which have tiled floor. Another unique space is the main bathroom under the great arched ceiling, the shower niche is almost hidden. The main colours used for the living and sleeping areas are white, beige and light blue, except in the bathroom and the toilet where tiles with diverse intense patterns are used. The apartment turned into a really nice, bright and charming family apartment, especially happy is the little son, who is racing with his small carrito round and round the island…
