The apartment for a young family of three is located in a new building designed by the architectural office Bevk Perović architects, in a quiet and green area in the centre of Ljubljana. The ground floor apartment is ideally designed within the building, as it has a private garden on the SE and NE side. The architecture of the building is designed in such a way that the central living area opens as much as possible to the garden on the south-east side with large glazing. Thus, light, vegetation and the surrounding buildings largely enter the interior of the living space and define its third and fourth walls.

The main idea in the interior design was thus to create a presentable counterbalance in the central spaces to the picturesque, green and often over-lit exterior that surrounds the dwelling. This balance was created to the greatest extent possible with natural materials, with large wall panels of oak veneer and birch plywood, which, in addition to pleasant acoustics, absorb the light dominance of the exterior, while at the same time, together with the framed views of the surrounding greenery, form visually complementary living entities

The result is a home that is a relaxing, calm, warm, homely oasis within a dynamic and often too noisy city centre.
